Subject:Life on the emotional rollercoaster that is love...
Security:Public
Mood: contemplative

I spent another weekend with Angie in London. And I'm still not used to the emotional rollercoaster that I've been on. I've experienced the entire gamut of emotions, many of which occurred in the same day. And sometimes it's hard to take, sometimes it's enough to make one wonder if it's worth it. And I definitely think, nay, know, it is entirely worth it.

But it's a bit of a shock to the system going from laughing so hard that you can't breathe one minute, to being absolutely depressed knowing you have to leave again for a few days. God, I wish love were easy to deal with.

The drive home this morning was pretty depressing. Woke up early so I could drive my love to work, put air into my nearly flat right rear tire (which I learned probably has a hole in it, le sigh). Went back to bed, and had a good cry and cuddle with Lionheart (the stuffed lion Angie gave me as an early stocking stuffer) -- yes, I'm 33 and I cuddled with a stuffed animal, get over it. It comforted me, what d'ya want? And ultimately felt a lot better afterwards.

I just wish the emotional rollercoaster would slow down a bit. Maybe I could handle our time apart better that way.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In June I donated bone marrow to [info]kalanaiwhoser in a life-saving procedure (300 points). In January I gave [info]gibbous a kidney (1000 points). In October I pulled [info]tea_cantata's hair (-5 points). In August [info]jesperanda and I robbed a bank (-50 points). Last Monday I ruled Duluth, Minnesota as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points).

Overall, I've been nice (1945 points). For Christmas I deserve a Lego set!

Sincerely,
ejumean

Subject:Collingwood & The Great Georgian Bay Roadtrip
Security:Public

I got back from Collingwood early this afteroon after being there since Tuesday. I stayed in the Blue Mountain Inn -- the last time I had stayed there was in the mid-to-late 1980's. The hotel looked pretty much the same. Updated slightly but still quite behind the times compared to the new resorts that have popped up the last few years. Disappointingly, all the fun things I remember as a child no longer are there. The waterslides, gone. The Blue Mountain Slide Ride, gone. However, they built a new "Village" which is quite a nice spot, lots of shops and restaurants and the aforementioned new resort hotels. Next time I return to Blue Mountain I'll definitely go for the newer accomodations.

Squee!! Bambi!! Spotted this deer in our backyard earlier today. First one I've ever seen in our neck of the woods. Pretty amazing to see.
Bambi in the Backyard #2 Bambi in the Backyard #2
Another photo of the deer that appeared in our backyard. No idea where it came from, but it appeared lost but eventually moved into the neighbour's backyard.

In other news, I'm off to Collingwood for a couple days to relax and forget about work, etc. See you in a few days!

While I was out earlier today on a nature hike with my camera, I came across this scene which instantly took me back to a Whose Line quote (well, situation actually). It was from a game of Scenes From A Hat, where Clive gave out the suggestion: "Beetles making love on a leaf". Well...here's what I saw....

"I've always liked you, Ringo!"

This amused me a bit too much, I'm afraid.

Two days ago (Friday) marked one year since we lost our beloved Trigger. I still constantly think of him and wish he were here. But he's probably having a lot of fun at the Rainbow Bridge, and I'll see him soon enough. Tomorrow would have been his 11th birthday.

It took me a good two dozen tries on this damn site to finally get through a test session. It either gave a fatal error just as the results were being shown, or wouldn't load up in the first place.

I'm horribly impressed! Considering my lack of typing skills, I don't use all my fingers when I type -- mainly the index and middle fingers on both hands.

Edit: I just did the test again, and I surpassed my last one. I can't believe it! And no mistakes this time either!

Subject:Alright, 2008, would you get your god damn ass in gear?
Security:Public
Mood: miserable

I think I can safely say that 2007 has been one of the crappiest years for me and my family (at least in the last 10 years or so). We've had to deal with quite a bit of death and sickness, much in the last week or so. A catalog of misery for your perusal...

- Death of my dog Trigger back in May
- My dad lost his brother a few months after that
- My mom's sister has been ill and in hospital about a week and a half ago (but has come back home since then
- My dad's sister suffered a stroke a few days ago (thankfully mild, she seems to be okay at this point)
- And this morning, my cousin in Grand Rapids lost her husband to a heart attack, and he was only in his early 50's at most.

Add to this my problems I've been having with my right wrist for nearly the past two months, and it's made me utterly miserable, and completely NOT in the Christmas spirit -- it's just as well we're doing nothing this year, no tree, no lights, nada. Frankly, I wish 2007 would just hurry the hell up and get out of my life.

Hugs would be appreciated. Lord knows I need 'em right now.

Boy, there's nothing like falling asleep at 4AM after working the night shift, only to be woken up at 8AM by banging on the roof from the damn ROOFERS working up there -- for 4 or 5 hours, not allowing me to get back to sleep.

I really need to invest in some earplugs.

Mood: cranky and hurting

It's so hard to type when your wrist is wrapped up in bandages....the last few days I'd started noticing pain in my right wrist. I really felt it dealing roulette last night, and when I woke up this morning, I could barely move it at all. My dad examined it and figures I have a bout of tendonitis, and gave me some Celebrex and wrapped my wrist up. Tomorrow I have an appointment for a massage, and while I'm in the clinic, dad's going to let another doctor there check my arm out to make sure just what is wrong with it.

I'm glad I have the next few days off, but I'm so not a happy bunny right now. Considering my right arm is my dominant one, it's gonna be a major pain in the butt to do anything with it while it's wrapped up.

:(

Subject:Wow, things you don't expect to see...

Mood: shocked

I was in London for my 4-year gaming license renewal, I had spent the night there and everything was pretty much uneventful. As I drove up Richmond towards Masonville mall, a cop car whizzed by me, its lights and siren going, and I wondered who they were going after. As I got to the mall parking lot, I discovered that police car had joined about another half-dozen or so by the bus stop. I drove to another section of the lot where I could make a call on my cell phone and I saw what was going on through my rear-view mirror. Several men were being handcuffed and arrested. As I finished my call, and drove out of the lot, I saw one man being held by several police officers on the ground.

I had no idea what was going on until I got home and looked at the London Free Press website and found out. It was the end result of a violent home invasion that took place in a town outside London, but the suspects were spotted and later caught in Masonville. The story is in the link below.

Takedown At Masonville Place
http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/News/Local/2007/09/19/4509389.html

Pretty scary. Things you don't expect to see happen. I'm glad they were arrested, sounds pretty awful. And it sounds like they closed stores in the mall, so there wouldn't have been much point to stay and visit the mall in the first place.
